flu vaccination

Annual vaccination is the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications. Stratford Village Pharmacy can vaccinate all people aged 12 years and over. Why not book your appointment today!

Best timing for vaccination

The timing of vaccination should aim to achieve the highest level of protection during the peak of the influenza season. Flu season in Queensland is typically from June to September, with the peak usually in August. Vaccinating from April provides protection before the peak season takes place. While protection is generally expected to last for the whole season, the best protection against influenza occurs within the first 3 to 4 months following vaccination. It is never too late to vaccinate since influenza can circulate in the community all year round. It is important to remember that the vaccine is not immediately effective and it generally takes 10 to 14 days to be fully protected.

To ensure the safety of our customers and pharmacy team we have implemented the following measures:

If you are unwell please do not attend: If you have any COVID‐19 or flu like symptoms including fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath please call us to cancel and rebook for another time.

If you are in self‐isolation, you are not allowed to leave your home to have your flu shot: If you have been told by a health professional that you meet the criteria for self‐isolation you must not enter our pharmacy. Leaving your house puts others at risk and is breaking the law. Please call the pharmacy to cancel and rebook after medical clearance has been given for you to end self‐isolation.

Hand sanitisers: Our pharmacists will use hand sanitiser before and after each vaccination. Hand sanitiser will also be available for customer use. Masks may also be a requirement for our staff and customers, depending on the current COVID-19 exposure risk. Please note that it is not a current requirement that gloves must be worn, as long as proper hand hygiene practices are being followed.
